The objective of the Practice: The initiative aims to provide students and faculty members with hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies like Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cloud Computing through Amazon Web Services Academy (AWS Academy). By offering a choice of multiple specialized courses, this practice seeks to enhance the industry readiness of our learners and keep them updated with the latest trends in technology, particularly in AI and Data Science.

The Context: AWS Academy offers a range of advanced courses tailored to domains such as Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, and Machine Learning, among others, both Theory and Practical. These courses are designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required in modern tech-driven industries. Our students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science had the opportunity to explore various AWS courses and opted for the AWS Academy Machine Learning Foundations courses. This selection aligns with their academic focus on AI and Data Science and their aspirations to master machine learning—a core area of expertise in these fields.

The Practice: In December 2023, two eighth-semester B.E. students, Jino R and Md. Belal Ansari, from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, completed the AWS Academy Machine Learning Foundations course. This course, selected from a pool of specialized AWS courses, provided them with essential knowledge of machine learning algorithms, frameworks, and real-world applications. Their successful completion of the course is recognized by the AWS Academy Graduate Certificate, which attests to their proficiency and commitment to advancing their skills. Additionally, Mr. Jebin Bose S, Assistant Professor from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, completed the AWS Academy Machine Learning course and has been assigned the role of AWS Academy Educator. He will mentor students and ensure the continued success of this initiative. This practice represents a strategic decision by our institution to offer students and faculty access to industry-relevant certification courses that enhance both their academic and professional development.

The outcome of the Practice:

• Student Achievements: By opting for the Machine Learning Foundations course, Jino R and Md. Belal Ansari have demonstrated a deep understanding of core ML concepts, making them more competitive in the AI and Data Science sectors. Their achievements highlight the flexibility and diversity of AWS Academy’s offerings, allowing students to choose courses that align with their career goals.
• Faculty Contribution: Mr. Jebin Bose S has taken on the responsibility of guiding batches of students in the AWS course, ensuring that this best practice becomes a sustainable learning pathway for many.
• Expanding Learning Opportunities: The availability of a variety of AWS Academy courses, including Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, and Advanced Machine Learning, has broadened the scope of learning opportunities for our students. It encourages them to explore different avenues of technology, enhancing their industry relevance and preparedness.
• Industry-Readiness and Employability: The students who have completed these certifications are now more aligned with current industry demands. These courses have enabled them to become well-rounded AI and ML professionals, increasing their employability.
